Every Liturgical Year is an opportunity to speak about Christ, to live in Christ, to deepen our faith in, hope in and love for Christ, to enter into the mysteries of Christ, the mysteries of our Salvation and to experience anew the ever-abiding presence of Him. Every Liturgical Year is a period to celebrate Christ the Emmanuel, sent by the Father and made known to us and ever present in our midst by the Holy Spirit; and to make ever present the merits of His Salvific Mission through all the History of Salvation.
The Advent Season opens the door unto us in this journey of faith as we strive to make Christ palpable to our brothers and sisters, in the spirit of His holiness, in the fullness of His power, in the perfection of His ways, in the truth of His virtues, in the communion of His mysteries by the assistance of the unmerited graces of the Holy Spirit and for the glory of the Father. Like other years, the Year A of the Liturgical Cycle is unique in various ways, especially for the fact that the greatest percentage of the Gospel Readings of the Sunday of this year, with the exception of the Easter Season, is taken from the Gospel of Saint Matthew. Hence, it is also known as the Year of Saint Matthew.
Cada Año Litúrgico es una oportunidad para hablar de Cristo, para vivir en Cristo, para profundizar nuestra fe, esperanza y amor por Él, para adentrarnos en los misterios de Cristo, los misterios de nuestra Salvación, y para experimentar de nuevo su presencia constante. Cada Año Litúrgico es un tiempo para celebrar a Cristo Emmanuel, enviado por el Padre y dado a conocer a nosotros, siempre presente entre nosotros por el Espíritu Santo, y para hacer siempre presentes los méritos de su Misión Salvífica a lo largo de toda la Historia de la Salvación.
El Adviento nos abre la puerta en este camino de fe, mientras nos esforzamos por hacer palpable a Cristo a nuestros hermanos, en el espíritu de su santidad, en la plenitud de su poder, en la perfección de sus caminos, en la verdad de sus virtudes, en la comunión de sus misterios, con la ayuda de las gracias inmerecidas del Espíritu Santo y para la gloria del Padre. Como en años anteriores, el Año A del Ciclo Litúrgico es único en varios aspectos, especialmente porque un mayor porcentaje de las lecturas del Evangelio del domingo de este año, con la excepción del Tiempo Pascual, provienen del Evangelio de San Mateo. Por ello, también se le conoce como el Año de San Mateo.
