The Pastor is required by canon law to appoint a committee of lay volunteers to advise him in the prudent management, expenditure, and investment of parish funds. Finance Committee members typically commit to serving a two-year term, during which they meet every two months to review and discuss the parish’s financial statements and capital projects; approve the annual operating budget; and deliver the annual financial status report to parishioners. Ultimate responsibility for all financial matters rests with the Pastor.
The Pastoral Council presents and implements the vision for the entire parish in consultation with the Pastor. Each member is a visible, active presence at St. Katharine Drexel’s serving as a resource for the Pastor and parishioners. Knowledge and understanding of the parish and a willingness to speak up on issues of concern to the parish are important. The Pastoral Council has 12 members plus the Pastor, Deacon and one representative of parish staff.
