Parishioners are invited to have their children baptized at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church. Baptisms in Spanish take place the first Saturday of every month at 11 AM and in English the second Saturday of every month at 11 AM.

In preparing for your child’s baptism:

  • Parents must live in the city of Weston.
  • Both parents must have a meeting of half an hour with the person in charge of the ministry (by appointment).
  • Parents should bring to the meeting the birth certificate of the child to be baptized.
  • Parents and godparents who live in Weston are required to attend one of our Baptism Classes, offered every third Saturday of the month from 9 AM to 12 Noon. If the godparent lives out of town, he or she may attend a class at one’s local parish and send us a letter of good standing to that effect.

Choosing Godparents:

There are two godparents only, man and woman, who should be chosen based on one’s ability to help you raise your child in the belief and teachings of the Catholic Church.

Godparents must be Catholics, active parishioners of their parish, 16 years old and older, having the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. Godparents, if married, must be married in the Catholic Church.

For children age 7 and up seeking baptism:

Children older than 7 years of age require participation in Religious Education for a minimum of one school year before being baptized.

For adults age 18 and up seeking baptism:

Please see the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program.
